  • What do I need to become a member of the Kinetic Combatives Centre?
The Kinetic Combatives Centre welcomes members of all ages and abilities who are serious about developing their self-protection skills, fitness and resilience. However, those seeking membership must attend an initial interview and trial class, during which our instructors assess applicants' current capability, attitude and understanding. This is to ensure that our classes run smoothly, injuries are minimised and all participants can get the utmost value out of the instruction given. A culture of positivity, perseverance and mutual support in our endeavours is important to KCC instructors and members; therefore, those unable to uphold the expected standards of behaviour on and/or off the mats may be denied membership or have it revoked.
  • What can I gain from becoming a member of the Kinetic Combatives Centre?
The Kinetic Combatives Centre offers the rare opportunity to train regularly with Kinetic Fighting's founder, Paul Cale, as well as our Combatives Master Trainers (CMTs) and Combatives Trainers (CTs), all of whom have operational experience in the military, law-enforcement or security sectors, and/or various full-contact fighting disciplines — and in some cases, all of these! You'll get detailed and personalised instruction in the battle-proven principles and survival tactics that comprise Cale’s Kinetic Fighting–Integrated Combat system, which is: adaptable to any martial art or professional operational procedure suitable for civilians & front-line operators, from beginners to professionals Backed by Paul Cale’s 25+ years of career military experience & 40+ years in martial arts, as well as the extensive experience and qualifications of our CMTs and CTs. You will also receive a comprehensive training booklet for each training module, to assist you in developing your skill sets. The obvious benefit of training in KEF–IC is that it enhances your ability to defend yourself, your loved ones, your colleagues and your community. However, there are many more reasons to train with us, including (but definitely not limited to): · increasing your confidence and self-reliance · developing greater self-awareness and situational awareness · improving your fitness and resilience, both physical and mental · enhancing your capability to provide safety to others and fulfil duties of care · enabling you to provide better services in your front-line profession (if applicable) · being part of a community of people who work together to better themselves and each other · having fun — just plain old, rough-and-tumble fun. Get some!
  • How does Kinetic Combatives' training and grading system work?
The badges that denote KEF–IC rank are worn on the sleeve of your KEF–IC training T-shirt (attached by a Velcro backing). These badges also have a corresponding belt that may be worn when training in a gi jacket. The red stripes on the badges and matching red tabs on the belts show course modules completed while at that rank (including any from the sets above that rank), to a limit of four in total. Once four modules have been completed at any rank, no more red tabs will be added until you progress to the next belt/colour level. Other courses may be completed, but core skills must be refined and a test undertaken before progression in rank is allowed. After a promotion in rank, tabs for any courses completed beyond the minimum syllabus requirements will be added to the new badge/belt. The KEF–IC belt/badge colours are as follows: 1. Tan (beginner/no grade) 2. Grey (technical & tactical proficiency) 3. Green (advanced technical & tactical proficiency) 4. Brown – Combatives Trainer (high-level technical, tactical & instructional capability) 5. Black – Combatives Master Trainer (technical, tactical & instructional excellence) Kinetic Combatives also grades members in Kinetic Jiu-Jitsu (the Kinetic Combatives method of Brazilian jiu-jitsu/BJJ), using the standard coloured-belt system originally (and still most frequently) employed in BJJ curriculums: 1. White (beginner/no grade) 2. Blue (basic technical proficiency) 3. Purple (advanced technical proficiency) 4. Brown (high-level technical proficiency & instructional capability) 5. Black (technical excellence & instructional capability) You can learn more about our badges and belts HERE.
